Kimberly Denise Williams created Vanity Dark in 2007 as a place to document the intersections of things she loved: entertainment news (including politics as entertainment), new music, magazines, television shows, and history. There was no blueprint for connecting these things, but the site emerged as the “intersection of funky fresh and nostalgia.” Over the course of the site’s run there have been a few series: notably “When I Read,” “Authentic Brooklyn,” “My Favorite Scenes,” and “This Week in Twitter.” The name of the site is a play on the title of the popular magazine, Vanity Fair.
